The Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and the International Builders' Show (IBS) are key events in our industry, highlighting exciting new trends and innovations in home design and construction. It is the largest kitchen and bath trade show in North America.
Attending these shows was one of our favorite trips last year, and this year proved to be no different.
We got to see the latest and greatest design features from major household brands, many of whom we already support and use, but we also had fun discovering new brands as well. It was a TON of walking with over 1,800 exhibitors to explore!

This year, we were also asked to be judges for the "Best of KBIS" Awards. We announced the winners on stage and presented awards for Best in Game-Changing Innovation and Best in Show! We shared this judging responsibility with other amazing designers from around the world and were honored to be a part.

During our trip, we took note of all the trends we saw amongst big and emerging brands alike. Not all of these are necessarily our style, or design choices we would make, but that's ok! Our goal was to take note of the consistencies and share them with you!
From eco-friendly materials to creative integrative technologies, these are the top 7 design trends to look out for in 2025.
1. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Materials
In recent years, sustainability has become a major focus for designers and homeowners alike. At KBIS/IBS 2025, as expected, we saw an increase in eco-friendly and sustainable materials. For example, countertops made solely from quartz are OUT. One of the brands who is really embracing the eco-friendly trend is Cosentino (@cosentinousa). They're saying goodbye to quartz because of the harsh materials (like silica) being used in its manufacturing.

Cosentino uses a range of materials in their new products, including HybriQ+ Technology for their Silestone surfaces, which blends premium minerals and recycled materials with a sustainable manufacturing process. They also use renewable energies and recycled water in their manufacturing process. Additionally, Cosentino's showrooms feature high-quality materials such as Arclinea and Lema.
With this booth being one of the most extravagant and beautifully curated spaces at KBIS, it was, by far, a highlight for us to experience this year!
2. Smart Home Technology
Smart home technology continues to transform modern living. At KBIS/IBS 2025, we couldn't help but notice that products designed for convenience, technology and efficiency are becoming essential to the modern home.
In 2022, roughly 50% of homeowners used smart devices, and this number is expected to grow. We saw technology for screens integrated into induction cooktop surfaces (currently only available in Japan, but imagine watching a recipe video on your stove while you're cooking it!) and charging stations seamlessly (and cordlessly!) integrated into countertops of every kind. These advancements blend functionality and convenience into stylish design and we're here for it!

One of the most innovative collaborations unveiled at KBIS this year was James Martin Vanities (@jamesmartinvanities), Freepower (@freepower.io), and Cosentino (@cosentinousa).
Freepower is changing the game by transforming everyday surfaces into wireless chargers.
James Martin Vanities is synonymous with timeless design and superior craftsmanship.
And Cosentino produces and distributes high value innovative surfaces for architecture and design.
This dynamic trio is a match made in home and bath heaven!

3. Bold Colors and Patterns
After years of minimalism, bold colors and dynamic patterns are making a comeback. KBIS/IBS 2025 featured vibrant palettes that energize spaces. Think vivid-colored backsplashes, cabinetry, appliances, sinks, tubs, and upholstery as focal points, showing how color and design can work together to transform environments. Experimenting with color can make small spaces feel larger and livelier while also reflecting personal style.
4. Mixed Metals & the Resurgence of Copper
One unique trend we noticed at KBIS/IBS 2025, was mixed metals and the resurgence of copper. It seems this timeless metal has emerged as a popular material in trending home design and accessories.
Here are a few examples in which we saw copper being utilized at this year's shows:
Hardware: Copper handles, knobs, and faucets adding a unique touch to cabinetry and fixtures.
Tile: We saw copper as a color tone in various tile applications adding metallic contrast against unique color combinations.
Lighting Fixtures: Copper pendant lights and chandeliers adding a touch of elegance and warmth to spaces.
Furniture: Copper accents in furniture, such as tables and chairs, create a striking focal point.
Decorative Accessories: Items like vases, candle holders, and wall art introduced copper elements in subtle ways.
Benefits of Using Copper
Durability: Copper is a robust material that can withstand wear and tear, making it ideal for high-traffic areas.
Antimicrobial Properties: Copper surfaces can help reduce the spread of bacteria, making it a hygienic choice for kitchens and bathrooms.
Patina Development: Over time, copper develops a unique patina, adding character and depth to its appearance.
Versatility: Copper complements a variety of design styles, from modern to rustic, but always classic.
By thoughtfully incorporating copper into various elements of your home, you can create a space that feels warm, inviting, and uniquely yours.
In summary, brushed nickel, brushed brass, and standard gold finishes are sooo 2024. What's in? Copper, unlaquered brass, and chrome!
5. Vintage and Retro Elements + Curved Surfaces
Nostalgia is powerful, and we're seeing in 2025 a resurgence of vintage and retro design elements. This trend blends classic charm with modern needs. By incorporating these elements, designers are creating unique spaces that tell a story, showcasing a harmonious mix of past and present. The curved details we saw at KBIS/IBS this year were everywhere! Unique shapes and curved edges dominated displays for nearly every brand.
One unique exhibition was the expansion of the Frank Lloyd Wright line with Brizo premiering their new bath collection. This partnership illustrates Wright's dedication to organic architecture and celebrates his timeless artistry.

Here are other examples of retro design from KBIS 2025. Brands like Kohler and Kallista got in on the trend as well with stone knobs, teak accents, and unique shapes and tones that add elements of surprise and texture.

We couldn't get enough of these curved edge details from this year's show. A brand we're loving right now is Naturekast (@naturekast). Their Radium line of weatherproof cabinetry is unlike anything we've seen. It has subtle curves on the cabinetry edges that give it an added textural element that we can't wait to use on a future project.
6. Wellness in Design

At this year's KBIS/IBS, we saw more wellness driven design than ever before. Expect to see features like indoor gardens, water elements, steam showers, saunas, plunge baths and natural materials in 2025 home designs, as many brands are leaning heavily into the wellness trend.
This approach not only beautifies spaces but promotes wellness, with studies indicating that natural elements can lower stress levels and improve overall happiness. Spaces designed with these ideas in mind create a calming atmosphere that fosters tranquility. And who doesn't want more of that?
7. Personalization and Customization
Today's consumers want their homes to reflect their unique tastes. Personalization and customization were trending themes at KBIS/IBS this year.
From tailored cabinetry to distinct color schemes, these options allow homeowners to create an environment that truly feels their own. A recent survey found that 65% of homeowners are willing to invest in custom solutions to express their individuality, enhancing their daily experiences within their homes.
If you know anything about us, you know that customization is kind of our thing.
Looking Ahead
As we review the trends from KBIS/IBS 2025, it’s clear that design extends beyond looks; it’s about merging functionality, sustainability, and personal expression. These trends may very well redefine how we view our living spaces. And while we may not consider ourselves "trendy" per say, pay attention as we may use some of them ourselves this year. Stay tuned! ;)
Til next time,
